FitSteps® Instructor Terms & Conditions (UK, Ireland & Europe)
1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions (“T&Cs”) govern your enrolment on the FitSteps® course and your ongoing membership and licence to teach FitSteps. References to “FitSteps”, “we”, “us”, or “our” mean FitSteps.
By enrolling in the FitSteps course via www.fitsteps.co.uk (the “Website”), you agree to be bound by these T&Cs. This constitutes a legally binding agreement and financial commitment. If you have any questions, please contact support@fitsteps.co.uk before enrolling.
2. Enrolment, Fees and Membership
2.1 Enrolment
Enrolment is personal to you and cannot be transferred. To enrol, you must follow the procedures on the Website.
2.2 Enrolment Fees (Online Training)
You must pay an enrolment fee of £60 (inclusive of VAT), which includes one assessment.
You may cancel your enrolment within 14 days of receiving your enrolment confirmation and receive a full refund provided you have not accessed any course materials.
2.3 Training Day & Virtual Training Fees
- Live Training: £259.20 (incl. VAT)
- Virtual Training: £199 (incl. VAT)
These include access to training modules and attendance at a training day where applicable.
2.4 Membership Requirement (Licence to Teach)
Upon successful qualification, you must maintain an active FitSteps Membership to remain licensed to teach.
Membership fees:
- £24 per month (one programme)
- £36 per month (two programmes)
Alternatively, an annual membership may be paid in full and will automatically renew on its anniversary.
Failure to maintain payments will result in:
- Immediate termination of your licence to teach FitSteps
- Loss of access to all course materials
All Membership fees are non-refundable.
2.5 Cancellation of Membership
You may cancel your Membership at any time by providing 30 days’ written notice via email.
Upon cancellation:
- Access to materials will end
- Your licence to teach FitSteps will cease
2.6 Age Requirements
Applicants must be 18+. Applicants aged 16–18 require a parent/guardian guarantor.
2.7 Acceptance of Enrolment
FitSteps reserves the right to accept or reject any application.
3. Course Materials, Cancellation and Refunds
3.1 Course Materials
Access is granted upon enrolment.
3.2 Cooling-Off Period
You may cancel within 14 days for a full refund only if materials have not been accessed.
3.3 Loss of Cancellation Rights
Accessing course materials immediately waives your right to cancel.
3.4 Refunds
Refunds are processed within 30 days where applicable. No refunds are given:
- After the 14-day period
- After accessing materials
- For incomplete courses
3.5 Non-Payment
Missed payments will result in:
- Suspension of access
- Cancellation of membership and licence
- Liability for outstanding balances
4. Use of Website and Technology
You are responsible for:
- Your own equipment and internet access
- Ensuring compatibility with course materials
FitSteps:
- Does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access
- Is not responsible for technical issues, viruses, or third-party software
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue services at any time.
5. Account Security and Data
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your login details secure
- All activity under your account
Your personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
6. Training Days and Events
6.1 Booking
Places are limited and allocated on a first-come basis.
6.2 Changes
- You may change dates with at least 7 days’ notice
- Missed sessions must be rebooked
6.3 FitSteps Changes
We may change or cancel events. You may transfer bookings, but we are not liable for additional costs.
6.4 Conduct
Unacceptable behaviour may result in removal without refund.
6.5 Health & Fitness
You confirm you are physically fit to participate. Medical clearance may be required.
6.6 Recording Consent
You consent to photography/video recording for promotional use.
7. Certification
Certification is awarded only upon:
- Completion of all course elements
- Passing required assessments
- Full payment of all fees
Certification does not guarantee employment or suitability.
8. Student Support
Support is available via email:
- Monday–Friday, 9am–12pm (excluding bank holidays)
We may amend or withdraw support services at any time.
9. Licence to Teach FitSteps®
9.1 Licence Grant
You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to:
- Access materials
- Teach FitSteps classes
This licence is conditional upon active Membership.
9.2 Restrictions
You may not:
- Share, copy, or distribute materials
- Transfer your licence
- Use materials outside authorised purposes
10. Brand, Marketing and Intellectual Property
10.1 Brand Guidelines
Upon qualifying and obtaining a FitSteps licence, you will be provided with guidance on how to set up, deliver, and market your classes. You agree to adhere strictly to all FitSteps branding and marketing guidelines.
Your FitSteps classes must always be advertised and delivered under the name “FitSteps” and must not be altered, abbreviated, or replaced with alternative names.
The following are not permitted:
- Using alternative names such as “Strictly Fitness”, “Strictly Dance Fit”, “Ballroom Fitness”, or similar variations
- Rebranding FitSteps classes under any other name
FitSteps is not affiliated with the BBC television programme Strictly Come Dancing or the British Broadcasting Corporation. The word “Strictly” must not be used in any promotional or business context unless used factually, for example:
- “FitSteps was created by former Strictly Come Dancing professional dancers”
- “Classes include dances seen on Strictly Come Dancing”
You must not:
- Describe your class as a “Strictly Dance Class”
- Use the term in any way that implies affiliation
10.2 FitSteps® Sub-Brands
Where you are licensed to teach FitSteps FAB, FitSteps TONE, or FitSteps CHAIR, you must:
- Use the correct and official sub-brand names
- Not rename or rebrand classes (e.g. “Seated FitSteps” is not permitted)
You may incorporate sub-brand elements into a general FitSteps class, provided the class is clearly named in accordance with FitSteps branding.
10.3 Logos and Marketing Assets
Upon qualification, you will be provided with official FitSteps logos and marketing materials.
You agree that:
- Only current, official FitSteps logos may be used
- Use of outdated or unofficial logos is strictly prohibited
- All materials must be sourced from the official instructor portal
These assets may be used for:
- Print marketing
- Online promotion
- Social media
Any unauthorised use, reproduction, or modification is prohibited.
10.4 Social Media
Social media is an important part of promoting your classes. When creating social media pages or naming your business, you must follow the rules below.
Failure to adhere to these rules may negatively impact the FitSteps brand and other instructors operating in your area.
You must use the following format when advertising only FitSteps classes:
“FitSteps in [Town] with [Your Name]”
The following are not permitted:
- Using “FitSteps [Town/Region]” without your name
- Using “FitSteps” on its own as a page or business name
- Any use of the word “Strictly” in your business or profile name when relating to your FitSteps Classes
If you operate under a separate business or gym name, FitSteps may be advertised within that business, provided all branding rules are followed.
10.5 Video Content and Online Classes
You must not:
- Upload or share videos of full FitSteps routines on publicly accessible platforms (including YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, or similar)
You may:
- Share short clips for promotional purposes only
Exceptions:
- Full routines may only be shared publicly if expressly required for an official FitSteps competition
If you provide:
- Online classes, or
- A digital content library
You must ensure:
- All FitSteps content is hosted securely
- Access is restricted behind a paywall or private platform
FitSteps reserves the right to request removal of any content that breaches these conditions.
10.6 FitSteps® Branded Clothing
You are not permitted to:
- Reproduce, modify, or apply the FitSteps logo to clothing or accessories
All branded clothing must be purchased exclusively through the official FitSteps store.
FitSteps reserves the right to restrict the production and sale of branded merchandise to authorised suppliers only.
10.7 Workshops and Third-Party Events
If you host a workshop under the FitSteps brand:
- The content must consist solely of FitSteps material
If you engage external professionals (e.g. guest dancers):
- These events must not be marketed as FitSteps
- They must be promoted separately and clearly distinguished
10.8 Forums and Online Conduct
When participating in:
- FitSteps forums
- Social media groups
- Public online discussions
You must:
- Follow all group rules and guidelines
- Conduct yourself professionally
FitSteps:
- Is not responsible for your comments
- Reserves the right to remove content deemed harmful to the brand
12. Music Licensing
All downloadable FitSteps music tracks provided as part of the course materials require appropriate licensing for public use.
If you use FitSteps music publicly (e.g. in classes), you confirm that either:
- You hold a valid Performing Rights Society (PRS) licence, or
- The venue where you teach holds a valid PRS licence and has confirmed this to you in writing
A PRS licence covers royalties payable when music is:
- Performed
- Played in public
- Broadcast or streamed
If you are teaching in a gym or leisure centre, it is typically the venue’s responsibility to hold the PRS licence.
The majority of FitSteps music is PPL FREE so if you only use this music, you will not require a PPL License however, some of the tracks do require a license which is your responsibility. All tracks that are NOT PPL free labelled accordingly within the platform.
20% of your Membership Fee contributes towards the licensed use of FitSteps music.
13. Liability and Insurance
13.1 Limitation of Liability
FitSteps is not liable for:
- Indirect or consequential losses
- Loss of income or business
Liability is limited to fees paid.
13.2 Personal Responsibility
You are responsible for:
- Your conduct when teaching
- Maintaining appropriate insurance
14. Payments
- Fees may change with notice
- You must keep payment details up to date
- Failed payments may result in suspension
15. General Terms
- We may update these T&Cs at any time
- These T&Cs form the entire agreement
- English law governs this agreement
- Force majeure applies
- Notices are valid via email
